2nd Yardsale!
In Mark 6:8-9 Jesus called His disciples to go out into the world, and they were called to go without any preparation, no bags packed, no itenary or plan, and no money...can you imagine what was going through the disciples minds at that moment? We have been called to adoption and every step has been one of faith. We often feel unprepared but know that God is equiping us and providing in amazing ways.
Our 2nd yardsale was one of those amazing ways. We were totally shocked when we made $1200 from our first yardsale and though it was crazy. I (Ian) thought for sure that we couldn't top the money that was made at the last yardsale. The day of our 2nd yardsale started out strange, with a guy showing up at 6am ready to shop and ended up spending $120. After that guy it was quiet, and I started to think that this was the only guy who was going to show up, that the location of the yardsale was to far off the main roads to find, and that we were going to have to deal with all these unwanted items...I was so wrong! Ephesians 3:20 says "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to the power that is at work within us..." At the end of the day the totals were in and I guessed we made $1000(thought it might be less), it was over $1500! Immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, I felt a clear reminder from God that He is in control and leading us through this adoption process. The majority of what we had was sold, the left over clothes items were taken to thrift stores(Thank you DW!), and turns out God can even bring shoppers to a location where retail shopping is not popular!
We want to say thank you to all who have been and are praying for us, for those who helped us out yesterday, and those who donated items. Really, thank you is not a strong enough word, we love you guys and are humbled to know we have such amazing friends and family.
